Breathe in me, O holy spirit

That my thoughts may be holy.

Draw my heart, O holy Spirit

Day 5: Prayer for vocations

Opening

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

 

Reflection

“You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.” John 15.16

 

In two weeks, at Petertide, new deacons and priests will be ordained in our diocese. We pray for them as they prepare to take this step and we ask God to bless the church with more vocations to ordained ministry. God calls us all and so we ask that we might all hear God’s call clearly.

 

Petition

Holy Spirit, bless us with your grace that we might hear the call that God has for us. Give us your wisdom that we might discern God’s will, set a light to our feet that we might see the path that you would have us walk. Bless, we pray, all who will be ordained this year, especially those who are beginning their ministry in this diocese – may they be a blessing to all your people. Amen.

 

Closing

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be forever. Amen.
