Praying for
Blessings

Thursday 12 June

A prayer of St Augustine

Breathe in me, O holy spirit

That my thoughts may be holy.

Act in me, O holy spirit

That my work may be holy.

Draw my heart, O holy Spirit

To love what is holy. Amen

Day 6: Prayer for children and young people

Opening

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

“As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love.” John 15.9

We pray for the children in our lives, in our churches and our neighbourhoods, asking that they might know the love of God. Children and young people face challenges which older people have never had to cope with, challenges unique to the 21st century, and we ask that by God’s grace we might be guided to help and protect them, cherishing and respecting them as the blessing they are.

Petition

Loving God, your Son told his disciples to become like little children. Lead us to work for the welfare and protection of all young people - may we respect their dignity that they may flourish in life.  Bless, we pray, all the children and young people in our lives, in our churches and in our communities – guard and protect them, by your grace direct them to follow you and love you and keep us mindful always that they are a blessing to us and to your church. Amen.

Closing

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be forever. Amen.
