about us

This is an exciting time at St Aldhelm's

Over the last two years we have been growing, reaching out to serve the community and figuring out what God is calling us to do in this place. In the end we realised it is all pretty simple - we are called to Love God, Love our neighbours and Love creation.

We come together to Love God in our lively Sunday services. We encounter God in scripture, in prayer, in the sacrament and in one another. Our worship style is anglican catholic, with a focus on the Eucharist, and we have both traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs, led by our talented and flexible choir, organist and band. Children are not just welcome but have important roles in our worship.

We show our love for our neighbours in our community action. We call our community projects the Windmill (we are on Windmill Road) and they include a foodbank, a stitching group, a café (run in partnership with West Lea and Learning for Life) and our Edible Garden.

We show our love for creation by trying to walk lightly in the world and using fewer resources. Our Edible Garden and Memorial Garden are places where anyone is welcome to sit and enjoy the beauties of God's creation.

Above all, St Aldhelm's is here to provide a spiritual home from home. A place to be still in the presence of the Lord. A place to pray and contemplate. A meeting place for friends old and new to gather. A church at the heart of the community which it is privileged to serve.
