Praying for
Blessings

Monday 9 June

A prayer of St Augustine

Breathe in me, O holy spirit

That my thoughts may be holy.

Act in me, O holy spirit

That my work may be holy.

Draw my heart, O holy Spirit

To love what is holy. Amen

Day 3: Prayer for peace in our community

Opening

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”  John 17.27

Our community has experienced too much violence in recent years, especially gang-related violent crime against young people. We pray earnestly for peace, for better options for young people in our neighbourhoods, and for peace in our own homes and hearts

Petition

O God, who would fold both heaven and earth into a single peace:
let the design of your great love lighten our traumas, difficulties and sorrows. Send your Holy Spirit to bless us with peace in our Church, peace amongst nations, peace in our homes and on our streets and your peace within our hearts. Amen.

Closing

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be forever. Amen.
