Praying for
Blessings

Sunday 8 June

A prayer of St Augustine

Breathe in me, O holy spirit

That my thoughts may be holy.

Act in me, O holy spirit

That my work may be holy.

Draw my heart, O holy Spirit

To love what is holy. Amen

Day 2: Prayer for Leadership

Opening

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

“You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am.  So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.”

John 13.13-15

Today, we pray for all leaders in our church — clergy, lay ministers, staff, and volunteers. We pray for our community leaders, including councillors and MPs, that they be guided by your wisdom and act with humility, love and wisdom.

Petition

Holy Spirit, bless and strengthen those who lead within our community. Grant them wisdom, courage, and perseverance to serve with joy, humility and faithfulness. Aid them to be instruments of your peace and agents of renewal in our community. Deliver us from a world without justice and a future without mercy. Amen.

Closing

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be forever. Amen.
