Welcome to St Aldhelms Church - loving God and serving our neighbours in Upper Edmonton since 1901.

We are a friendly and welcoming church, with people of all generations. Our 10am Sunday service is focussed on the Eucharist and relaxed and varied in style, with traditional hymns, contemporary worship songs and engaging sermons. Children are very welcome and play an active part in our worship.

Services are led by our vicar Mother Anna and curate Mother Patricia. We worship together on Sunday at 10am – join us either in person or online, via a live-streamed service on our facebook page and our YouTube channel.

We have a pop-up café, a weekly stitching group, community gardening, a foodbank and more - stay in touch and find out more by clicking the links at the top of the page to follow us on social media.

ST ALDHELM'S SHORT FILM
Please have a watch of the following short film - an introduction to St. Aldhelm's Church and our projects:
ST ALDHELM'S SERMONS
We have been asked by a few members of our congregation to upload sermons online. Several people specifically asked to see Mother Anna's sermon on church unity again, so here it is:

Step inside. St Aldhelm’s is a quiet place, a place you can sit and think, a place to pray or simply to be still in the presence of God.
St Aldhelm’s is a place of beauty. Lose yourself in the painting behind our altar. Find yourself in the characters in our stained glass windows. Allow the measured architecture of pillars and arches to steady you.

Our gardens are always open. Find a sunny bench to sit and think or wander through the Edible Garden at the back of the church where we grow flowers, herbs and vegetables for our foodbank.
Christian or not, a person of any faith or none – you are welcome here.
Not sure how to pray? Light a candle or just be quiet – God already hears.
St Aldhelm’s Church was built in 1903 and designed by W.D. Caroe. Records show that St Aldhelm’s Church was attended by 668 people on one Sunday in 1903, that was 407 in the morning and 261 in the evening. Today our congregation is somewhat more modest though no less committed!
Our vicar is Mother Anna Stuttard (above left) who joined St Aldhelm's in March 2020, just prior to the pandemic. She was joined in June 2021 by our curate Mthr Patricia Brown. (above right). Together they lead us in worship and prayer, guide us in our community service and encourage us to go deeper in our love for one another and God.
Our congregation reflects the community which we serve.
We are old, we are young; we are new to the area, we have been here for generations; our heritage is African, it is Caribbean, it is European, South American, Asian or English; we are different, we are the same – we are brought together through a common belief and purpose. To praise the lord and share his gospel.

Come on a Sunday at 10am and join us in praising God with hymns and worship songs as we encounter God in the Bible, in the sacrament of the Eucharist and in one another.

a place of peace...
fellowship
