It begins now

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. Next Sunday is Easter Day. Between now and then everything changes. And it begins now.

Because now we begin our journey with Jesus to the cross and the empty tomb.

Tomorrow in church we will hear the story, from Jesus’ triumphant arrival into Jerusalem to his death on the cross. Then during the week we will walk through the story, enacting the Last Supper, keeping watch with Jesus as he prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying at the foot of the cross. And then, at last, rejoicing as we proclaim the resurrection on Easter morning.

This is a life-changing story. If we enter into it fully, if we participate as if we mean it, then we will be changed. How can we not be changed by the astonishing story of God’s redemptive love for us? How can we not be moved by the suffering of the man who came to save us? How can we not be humbled by the love shown to us by a God who is willing to die for us?

This is a story that will change us if we let it. If we commit to it.

It begins now.
